About
“We provide an environment in which all children are supported to reach their full potential.”
Our history
Stepping Stones opened in 2006 with one aim: to help working families by giving their children a place where they are cared for with patience, warmth and real attention.
Today we run five childcare centres across Malta, in Fgura, Qawra, Marsaskala, Smart City and Tarxien, for children from 2 months to 3 years. Our approach is inspired by Reggio Emilia, so children learn through play, projects and their own interests.
Every educator holds an MQF Level 4 childcare qualification, a paediatric first aid certificate, a food handling certificate and a clean police conduct. Each centre is led by a coordinator with an MQF Level 5 diploma in childcare management, and the whole team keeps learning through regular supervision, appraisals and training.

Our Centres
Each centre is set up to feel like a second home. Children have activity rooms stocked with educational resources, and a shaded outdoor area with play equipment and a vegetable patch, where they plant and grow their own vegetables.
We use both of Malta’s official languages, English and Maltese, throughout the day, in conversation, stories and songs, so children grow comfortable in both.
We want every child to feel known and at home. When children feel secure in who they are, in their God-given identity, they grow in confidence, character and joy.
Our community
We work closely with parents. You receive updates, photos and monthly observations on the Procare app, a newsletter every term, and a meeting at least twice a year to talk through your child’s progress.
Families are welcome at our outings, parent-and-child clubs and celebrations, including the graduation parties we hold every January and September. We celebrate Maltese culture, and the cultures of every family who joins us.
Health & Safety
Every centre has CCTV or a video intercom, and parents sign children in and out with a fob. Children are only ever released to adults you have authorised. Our centres are air-conditioned, fitted with fire safety equipment and certified by a health and safety officer, and staff practise a fire drill twice a year.
All staff are trained in paediatric first aid, we follow strict daily cleaning and hygiene routines, and our child protection procedures follow the National Standards for Child Day Care Facilities.
