a roof mounted antenna with a fascia. it is very similar to the “piggyback”
mentioned in the article. but to actually put this on the roof of the
house is a whole different story. i would recommend an attic mounted one
like the “submersible” type.

the problem is that you have the a-weighting core (which gives you the
highest sensitivity in the 2 to 20 khz range) and an l-shaped element.
if your gain is low at 80 watts, you need a much larger core than what
you have to the antenna to be effective.

it does work though. i have one on my roof and it works fine on all of the
digital stations that are available. i have a 150 watt vhf/uhf antenna
mounted on the gable on my roof and it works fine on all of the
stations that are available too.

i have a horizontal and a vertical on my roof. i will put the vertical
on the end of the horizontal one. it does work fine for the digital
stations.
i have two more antennas. one with a 4′ aerial and a half-wave on the
horizontal one and the other with a 4′ aerial and a full-wave on the
horizontal one. i also have a pole antenna that is 3′ high. it works
fine too.

the antenna is a pole mounted antenna. pole mounted antennas are usually comprised of a telescoping plastic boom from which an antenna is mounted. the boom is supported by a pole which in turn is attached to a wall or window. the boom can be rotated, moved up and down and should be placed in the lowest possible location as it may interfere with cable tv cables or underground power cables. the boom should be placed as close to a window as possible. the boom should also be placed at least 20 meters from any building. for example, the boom should be placed on the side of a house or on the side of a hill or range of hills.
