The latter half of the game is arguably even better than the first, despite its narrative shortcomings. If Hitman 2is this good, I can only assume that the latter half of the game will be something special. Now that the developer is reportedly working on the next Hitman, we’ll only have to wait and see.
When I finished the game, I was so happy to finally have reached the end. I felt as if I had earned it. It was definitely a pretty unique experience, but it’s hard to recommend it if you don’t have a lot of time on your hands. Not that the game is lacking in content, far from it, but it would be extremely monotonous for a more casual player and it’s clear that he’ll be disappointed if he’s expecting something along the lines of a Hitman title.
Make no mistake, ‘Hitman Buddha’ isn’t for everyone. If you like long, whimsical games where the mechanics are very simple, and the player is rarely given a reason to interact with anything, then this is the game you’ve been looking for. It has a monotonous combat loop, but also a sprawling world that deserves some exploration.
