High-bandwidth DSPs allow the most rapid data transmission over a small, lightweight antenna. Today’s antenna would be too big to ship with a system this compact. A broad-band, QRP transceiver is needed to send SSTV data. The antenna is a short whip, a length that would accommodate a large, full-size SSTV antenna. The system will be capable of high-frame-rate imaging (up to 30,000 frames/sec) with high data throughput (5 to 7 Gigabytes/sec) for optimum real-time performance. System Design The ChromaPIX has a dual-core PowerPC 970 processor, 512 megabytes of Random Access Memory (RAM), and 128 megabytes of embedded NVRAM.
