What I really don’t like about the Smart Previews is that they need to be opened in Photoshop. The time it takes to open the JPG over the DNG is exactly the same as opening it in any other application. The advantage of having them in PS isn’t really a benefit. What I really want is for the previews to be just previews. That is, when I open a shot in PS, hit shift-enter or make a smart edit, I’d just like to be able to open it up in PS without having to open the RAW and activating the smart preview. I know PS5 does this but it’s always been like that somewhere in the beginning and I have never bothered to figure out why.
